Welcome to Hammerhead Watersports
We are a local business that provides quality water sports equipment to the Alum Creek area. Our aim is to provide kayak and paddle board rentals to those interested in exploring all the beauty central Ohios waterways have to offer!
Meet The Owners
Owner/Operator
We are the Payne family! You can find us fighting fires and delivering babies during our very non traditional working hours, but it's the time spent on the water and exploring the outdoors with our kids that we cherish most. Steve is a Florida native and a thrill seeker through and through. His passion for the water extends into work where he is professionally certified as a Swift Water Rescue Technician. Jaclyn grew up in Cali but was more reluctant to the outdoor lifestyle, especially once she moved to Ohio. It wasn't until we had kids that she realized how life-giving our time outdoors really was and how memorable time spent on the water could be. Over the years, Steve brought home paddle boards, kayaks, and eventually a boat! Our family time is most often spent away from screens and immersed in nature.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you provide safety equipment?
Absolutely! We provide all necessary equipment including paddles, PFD’s, and a dry bag for your phone and keys.
How does it work?
We do not have a physical location at Alum. Instead we provide delivery and pick up of the kayak/SUP directly to you at no additional cost! When you make a reservation over the phone we will send a google maps pinned location for one of our various preferred launch sites!
What if I’ve never used a kayak or paddle board before?
Paddle sports are our specialty! We provide an informational briefing at the time of delivery that includes safety precautions, appropriate areas to paddle, and even techniques to ensure you have a great time on the water.
Can my kids enjoy the kayak/paddle board with me?
Of course! All we require is that anyone who will be using the equipment must sign a waiver. All minors must have a parent or legal guardian sign the waiver for them.
What do I do with my phone?
We provide a dry bag that attaches to the board. Your phone/keys will be safe and dry for the duration of your adventure!
Can I pay with cash?
We accept a variety of payment types including Apple Pay, Credit Cards, and of course cash! Payment is taken on site prior to departure, but if you would like to pay in advance, simply call or email us for details.
